The Prom Project
The Prom Project is an annual initiative created by Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit to ensure that every student has the opportunity to attend prom with confidence and dignity, regardless of financial barriers. Through community donations and partnerships, the program collects new and gently used prom dresses in sizes 00–26 and provides them completely free to students in need.
More than just a dress giveaway, the Prom Project is about empowerment, confidence, and community support. Students are welcomed into a positive, uplifting environment where they can shop for a dress, connect with mentors, and feel celebrated during a milestone moment in their lives.
By bringing together volunteers, local businesses, and community leaders, the Prom Project continues to create meaningful impact—helping students look and feel their best on one of the most memorable nights of their high school experience.
An Important Update on Prom Project 2027
To Our Supporters, Volunteers, Donors, and Charlotte Community,
First, we want to say thank you.
Over the years, Curvaceous Behavior has been honored to serve students and families throughout the Charlotte community through our Prom Project. With the support of our volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters, we have been able to help eliminate one of the financial barriers surrounding prom by providing students with access to prom dresses and creating an experience centered on confidence, dignity, and celebration.
As we look toward 2027, we have made the decision to pause planning for Prom Project 2027 at this time.
Because of this pause, Curvaceous Behavior is not currently accepting prom dress donations for the 2027 prom season. We kindly ask that community members hold off on dropping off or sending dresses until further notice.
This decision was made with care and intention.
Mental health and overall well-being are important to our founder and our team. We spend a great deal of time pouring into our community, but we also recognize that in order to continue serving others in a meaningful and sustainable way, we must make space to care for ourselves as well.
Sometimes growth means knowing when to move forward, and sometimes it means giving yourself permission to pause.
At this time, we are choosing to prioritize rest, healing, personal well-being, and organizational growth. This pause gives our team the opportunity to reset, reflect, and determine what the next chapter of the Prom Project should look like.
This is a pause—not a goodbye.
We remain incredibly proud of the impact the Prom Project has had in Charlotte and grateful for every person who has donated a dress, volunteered their time, shared our mission, partnered with us, or helped a student feel beautiful and confident on such an important day.
While Prom Project 2027 is currently on pause, Curvaceous Behavior remains committed to our mission of empowering our community through confidence, self-expression, wellness, education, and personal development.
We believe that choosing yourself is also a form of self-care. In order to show up as our best selves for the people we serve, we must also give ourselves the space to heal, grow, rest, and return with intention.
