What is Self-Care Sunday?
Self Care Sunday is a free weekly wellness program hosted by Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit, designed to bring the community together through movement, mindfulness, and healing. Each session includes yoga and sound bowl meditation, creating a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages to focus on their physical health, reduce stress, and recharge mentally. The program makes wellness accessible—especially for families, youth, and educators in underserved communities—by offering tools that support balance, self-awareness, and overall well-being.

How many people have you serve for the program?
Since launching on August 3, 2025, Self Care Sunday has served over 70 guests through 9 free community wellness classes sponsored by ASC Culture Blocks. Each week we’ve seen growing attendance from a wide range of participants—including teens, adults, senior citizens, and even men—showing that wellness truly comes in all forms. Our mission has been to bring the community together around practices that support health, mindfulness, and connection, making wellness accessible to everyone in under-resourced areas.

How can someone join a class?
Anyone can join a Self Care Sunday class—no registration is required. To stay connected and up to date on upcoming sessions, we encourage community members to join our nonprofit’s newsletter, follow us on social media, and visit our website for the latest updates and class information.

When did Self Care Sunday Started?
Self Care Sunday officially launched on August 3, 2025. We started this initiative because we noticed there weren’t enough accessible wellness workshops in under-resourced communities like West Charlotte and Sugar Creek. Our goal was to create a safe, welcoming space where community members could come together and experience wellness practices—like yoga and sound healing—completely free of cost. This program ensures that families, youth, and neighbors have access to the tools of mindfulness, movement, and self-care, regardless of financial barriers.

How do you find instructors to teach the class?
We find instructors for Self Care Sunday by connecting with trusted local wellness practitioners and community leaders who are passionate about making wellness accessible. Many of our instructors are certified yoga teachers, sound bowl healers, and mindfulness coaches who understand the importance of serving under-resourced communities. Some have been referred through our nonprofit network, while others volunteer or partner with us because they believe in creating safe spaces for healing and community connection.

For partnership on Self Care Sunday who do we contact?
For partnership opportunities, community members and organizations can contact us directly by email or phone, or by filling out the contact form on our website. We welcome collaborations with schools, local businesses, and wellness professionals who share our mission of bringing accessible wellness to under-resourced communities.
